The normal bus connection to Volos is in the Almiros bus station on the edge of the north side of the town. Buses to Volos departure every quarter except at some times every half an hour. On the way you can step out in the centre (Platia Aristotelous) and at the main train station of Thessaloniki, New Railway Station (Neos Sidirodromikos Stathmos). The time duration to the centre of Thessaloniki is about 30 to 40 minutes, to New Railway Station train station takes 5 minutes longer.

The best way is to use the bus. It may sounds strange to you but buses in Greece are faster than trains, certainly in this case.
The Bus line 78 brings you to the main Macedonia Intercity Bus Station (KTEL) in western Thessaloniki. Once you are in the KTEL /central bus station of Thessaloniki, you can purchase a ticket and pick a bus to Volos.
Taxis are available outside the terminal but you can book a taxi or mini bus from Thessaloniki to Volos. In case there are more than four passengers, two(or more) taxis is the most comfortable way to travel, but a minibus is the most cost-effective.
